Famous Portraits -Diamond Art

Winter created a series called “Freedom Warriors.” Included in this fabulous collection of oil paintings are Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, Frederick Douglass and Mary McLeod Bethune. She painted these Freedom Warriors because of what they stood for and what they were willing to sacrifice: their lives in exchange for the freedom of others. Winter loves being a part of anything with that type of belief and commitment. This lines up with her philosophy of life: “Nothing beautiful is created without great supplication.” She is so proud to have these pieces on her wall and draws strength from them daily.

Winter has big dreams and goals set for her life. When times get hard and life tries to tell her those dreams and goals will never happen, she walks along her wall of Freedom Warriors and gains strength to carry on. This collection reminds us it is not easy to go after something bigger than yourself that will enhance the lives of an unlimited number of people, but Winter gladly accepts the challenge.

Abstracts – Freedom Art

Winter’s abstracts are developed out of her belief that freedom of mind, body, and soul, are among people’s greatest assets. It is her firm belief that when people free their minds, they empower themselves to believe in the impossible. Her abstracts, both energetic and boundless, create in people the will to dare to be different.

Winter also loves abstracts because they can be whatever she wants them to be. There are no rules on how to begin or finish an abstract. It has the ability to be whatever it will be. It simply “Is.” Through her vibrant abstracts, she wishes to convey the idea that it is okay not to have a perfect sense-of-direction and to enjoy being in the present moment.

Animals – Power Art

Winter expresses her avid love of all kinds of animals through the passionate illustrations that exude from the canvases. Her favorite animals are Lions, Elephants, Bears, Tigers, Dogs and Eagles. She loves to paint them in various scenes, because they possess characteristics that are quite extraordinary; such as their ability to hunt, their strength, and their cleverness. Winter realized that what she wanted to accomplish was huge, much bigger than herself, and that she would need the influence of these magnificent animals to draw strength from.

Winter has had a strong love for animals for as long as she can remember and almost always had a pet growing up. She truly believes animals taught her how to love without condition; and that they teach us what qualities of life we should possess, in order to be productive members of society. She is filled with a great sense of gratification and honor every time she creates a new piece that involves animals in general. It is Winter’s hope that she can awaken people’s ability to dream again and to love unconditionally, through the passion poured into her animal artwork.

Landscapes

Winter’s major themes are landscapes and towns.  Through her colorful and vibrant landscapes, she wants to inspire, motivate and expose the world to what a living dream looks like standing still.   Winter’s deepest desire is to not only take people to the grounds of her ancestors but to give her viewers a little piece of what Puerto Rico is made of: beauty, resilience, and most importantly freedom. Winter looks forward to challenging herself each day to create innovative experiences that speak and unify the human race, through the commonality of art. Winter gravitated toward painting landscapes early in her artistic journey, because she loved nature, mountains, and large bodies of water.  It reminded her of Puerto Rico and filled her with strong feelings of freedom, beauty, resilience, and a constant passion for life that never dies… En vivo (Live Free)!

Flowers

Winter loves to paint flowers quite simply, because it is fun and uplifting. It allows her to get in touch with the lighter side of herself and celebrate the gratification she gets from each stroke of her brush. Puerto Rico, a strong part of her background, is filled with vibrant colorful flowers. The main flower of Puerto Rico is the Flor de Maga (Hibiscus). This flower, as well as roses, play a very important part in Winter’s love of flowers. Through her artistic presentation of flowers, she wants to inspire her audience to shoot for the stars and always remember to stop and smell the roses.

Charcoal

Winter was heavily influenced by her brother, who is also a charcoal artist. He was charcoaling many years before Winter knew what a charcoal pencil was. Winter was in awe of her brother’s talent. His drawings were so lifelike, it seemed the subjects could walk right off the canvas. His level of excellence inspired Winter to keep getting better. While charcoal can be a bit messy to work with, its smooth dark texture was intoxicating in every way to Winter. Favorite charcoal creations from her own works include Bob Marley, Diana Ross, Clint Eastwood, Richard Pryor and Tupac Shakur.

Series

Winter started painting due to trauma. Although Winter talked about the issues of her trauma and journaled, it was a God given miracle when she fell into the art of painting. From the very beginning, Winter liked to tell stories through her works of art. It was how she began to turn her pain into her purpose. Because Winter had quite an imagination, she loved to create various works of art by painting what she dreamed. The visions in her dreams were quite vivid, colorful and pure poetry in motion. She loves to bring those dreams to life, by creating series inclusive of dancing bright colors and whimsical shapes and sizes.
